ALCOHOL-BASED HAND SANITIZERS REGULATIONS: STANDARDS ACT, 2005
Purpose of regulations
The purpose of these regulations is to:
(a) covers the quality and safety requirements of alcohol-based hand sanitisers for consumer use and for use as health care personnel handrub;
(b) include the terminology, formulations packaging, marking or labelling requirements as they apply to a product, process or production process; and
(c) compel a manufacturer or importer to meet the requirements of the NAMS/SANS 490 and the WHO Recommendations for ethanol and/or isopropyl alcohol content and alcohol identification.
