This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No.499/2023 (4 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 3189-1 for "Eye and face protection – Sunglasses and related eyewear- Part 1: Sunglasses for general use" (44 pages, in Arabic).

It should be noted that the Ministerial Decree No. 103/2019 (2 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/214 dated 10 May 2019, mandated among others the earlier version of this Standard.

Worth mentioning is that this standard is technically identical to ISO 12312-1/2022

Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments in the Egyptian standards through the publication of administrative orders in the official gazette.

Date of adoption: 18 December 2023

Date of entry into force: 5 January 2024
