This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No. 499 /2023 (4 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 1577 for "Crystal glass” (partial amendment in 1 page, in Arabic).

It should be noted that the Ministerial Decree No. 102/2019 (2 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/3/Add.18 dated 13 May 2019, mandated among others the earlier version of this Standard.

Worth mentioning is that this standard has been partially modified in the following items:

item (9) marking - Adding the following Items :

9/1 The following information is mainly written in Arabic and may add any other foreign language in a clear and legible manner on the packaging.

9/1/1 Country of origin

9/1/2 Manufacturer’s name and his trademark

9/1/3 Glass type (crystal) with the addition of special marks

9/1/4 Instructions for use, provided that the phrase “Do not use with drinks or hot foods” should be written.

9/2 The following special marks are shown on the product/unit as shown in Table No. (3).

Worth mentioning is that this standard is technically identical with BS 3828 /2005 (2012)

Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments in the Egyptian standards through the publication of administrative orders in the official gazette.
