This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No. 499 /2023 (4 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 1562 for ”Liquid Synthetic Detergents for Kitchen and Table Ware” (partial amendment in 1 page, in Arabic).

It should be noted that the Ministerial Decree No. 535/2015 (2 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/90 dated 20 August 2015, mandated among others the earlier version of this Standard.

Worth mentioning is that this standard has been partially modified in the following items:

- item (3) general requirements (Adding Item No. (3/6)” In the case of adding active substances with amphoteric surfactant activity, the total active substances are estimated as substances dissolved in the alcohol and are counted as total active substances”).

Worth mentioning is that this standard complies with JIS K 3370/ 1994; Synthetic Detergents for Kitchen; 92/59/EEC; 89/542/EEC; 67/548/EEC; 73/404/EEC; 73/405/EEC; 82/242/EEC; 76/769/EEC; 76/678/EEC; 88/379/EEC; Text Book of Qualitative Chemical Analysis.

Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments in the Egyptian standards through the publication of administrative orders in the official gazette.
