The Ministerial Decree No. 502 /2023 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian standard ES 8741-1 which covers the requirements of wooden sleepers and wooden specials used for broad gauge, metre gauge and narrow gauge railway tracks.

Worth mentioning is that this standard is technically identical with IS 10394:1982
