This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No. 196 /2023 (2 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 7823-1 " energy efficiency for electrical lamps and luminaires – part 1: energy efficiency requirements for electrical lamps"; (25 page(s), in Arabic).

This standard cancels and supersedes 7823/2014 and 7823/2020. It is issued in two parts:

· Part 1: Energy efficiency requirements for electrical lamps

· Part 2 : Energy efficiency requirements for electrical luminaries

It should be noted that the Ministerial Decree No.29/2021 (1 page, in Arabic) that was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/76/Add.3 dated 24 February 2021 and the Ministerial Decree No.58/2022 (2 pages, in Arabic) that was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/76/Add.4 dated 9 May 2022 mandated among others the earlier versions of this Standard.

Worth mentioning is that this standard has been formulated according to National studies.

Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments in the Egyptian standard through the publication of administrative orders in the official gazette.

Proposed date of adoption: 6 June 2023.

Proposed date of entry into force: 5 July 2023
