This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No. 396/2022 (2 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 4178 "Poultry meat-mechanically separated" (12 pages, in Arabic). The draft of this standard was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/2/Add.21 dated 31 August 2021.

It should be noted that the Ministerial Decree No. 515/2005 (10 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/2 dated 14 December 2005 mandated among others the earlier version of this Standard.

This standard cancels and supersedes its last edition ES 4178:2007.

Worth mentioning is that this standard complies with:

- Regulation (EC) no 853/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council "hygiene rules for food of animal origin".

- Technical Regulation No. 1 of 2021 issued by the National Food Safety Authority on "microbiological criteria for foodstuffs"

Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments in the Egyptian standards through the publication of administrative orders in the official gazette.

Date of adoption: 4 July 2022.

Date of entry into force: 1 August 2022.
