This specification covers the requirements for vehicles of category 03 and 04 designed or adapted for the conveyance of goods and for operation on a public road, including any category 03 and 04 vehicle not previously registered in South Africa. ; New vehicles of category 03 and 04 designed and constructed for the purpose of the carriage of passengers, as in a semi-trailer bus, are also subject to the relevant requirements for category M2 and M3 motor vehicles (busses) ; Category 03 – trailers with a maximum mass exceeding 3,5 metric ton but not exceeding 10 metric ton. ; Category 04 – trailers with a maximum mass exceeding 10 metric ton. ;
