The Regulation provides information on the implementation of food fortification to control the high prevalence of micronutrient malnutrition. It also provides that all wheat flour and vegetable oil locally produced or imported are to be fortified in accordance with the following Ghana Standards specifications GS 811, 812, 813, 809, 810 as appropriate. The regulation also requires that the labelling must conform to the approved format as specified by Food & Drugs Board and Customs, Excise & Preventive Service. It also requires that companies should comply with the interim measures in public health and safety on the fortification of wheat flour and or vegetable oil(s).
