Prescribes the requirements and methods of test for white bread, brown bread, Whole meal bread and enriched bread. This revision is aimed at clarifying the difference between brown bread and white bread taking into consideration the common use of brown bread in management of certain nutritional disorders such as diabetes mellitus as well as its consumption as part of healthy eating habits. During revision of the standard specific labeling requirements were introduced in cases where food colours have been used to enable consumers make informed decision in regard to the product. This standard therefore cancels and replaces the third edition of KS 172:1990 ;
