Establishes the performance, safety, environmental and health requirements for compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), tubular fluorescent lamps (TFLs) and certain other lamps containing mercury used for general lighting purposes, household room illumination, industrial purposes or other specialized purposes. The standard also establishes the current permissible levels of mercury in individual lamps and expected phase-down levels by the year 2013. ; ; In the interests of health and environmental protection, the standard provides the disposal procedure in the case of accidental breakage of the lamps and at the end of the life cycle. ; This Kenya Standard shall apply without prejudice to Kenyan legislation on safety and health requirements and specific waste management legislation. ;
