<p style="margin-top:2pt;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:12pt;">VC 8055- Compulsory Specification for Electrical and Electronic Apparatus.</span></p><p style="margin-top:2pt;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:12pt;">This specification covers safety and energy saving requirements for the specified types of mains-powered electrical and electronic apparatus listed below, rated at voltages not exceeding 500 V a.c. or d.c. and intended for use by ordinary persons in household, light industrial and general office applications. Such apparatus is generally available through normal retail distribution channels.</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10pt;"> </span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:12pt;">This specification covers the following types of electrical and electronic apparatus:</span></p><p style="margin-top:2pt;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:12pt;">a) household and similar appliances that may incorporate motors or heating&nbsp;</span><span style="line-height:1.5;font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:12pt;">elements, and including appliances intended to be used by ordinary persons in shops, light industry and on farms;</span></p><p style="margin-top:2pt;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:12pt;">b) electronic apparatus used for the reception, generation, recording or&nbsp;</span><span style="line-height:1.5;font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:12pt;">reproduction of audio, video and associated signals, and apparatus designed to be used exclusively in combination with such apparatus;</span></p><p style="margin-top:2pt;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:12pt;">c) information technology equipment, including electrical business and&nbsp;</span><span style="line-height:1.5;font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:12pt;">associated equipment;</span></p><p style="margin-top:2pt;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:12pt;">d) luminaires for use with electric light sources;</span></p><p style="margin-top:2pt;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:12pt;">e) hand-held motor-operated or magnetically driven electric tools;</span></p><p align="left" style="margin-top:2pt;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:12pt;">f) transportable electric motor-operated or magnetically driven tools;</span></p><p align="left" style="margin-top:2pt;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:12pt;">g) electrical equipment intended for application as test and measuring&nbsp;</span><span style="line-height:1.5;font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:12pt;">equipment, control equipment, educational equipment and laboratory equipment, including incorporated computing devices, excluding equipment designed for industrial process control.</span></p><p align="left" style="line-height:115%;"><br /></p>
