The Environment Protection (Banning of Plastic Bags) Regulations 2015 bans the import, manufacture, sale or supply of a plastic bag. The regulations apply to plastic bags designed for carrying, with or without handles or gussets, and irrespective of their size or type. To cater for essential uses, a list of plastic bags has been exempted. It is mandatory for all manufacturers and importers of exempted plastic bags to register with the Director of Environment.
