This part of BOS 659 covers circuit-breakers, the main contacts of which are intended to be connected to circuits with rated voltages not exceeding 1 000 V a.c. or 1 500 V d.c.

This part of BOS 659 does not cover: a) circuit-breakers for equipment (CBE) covered by IEC 60934, or b) circuit-breakers that incorporate residual current protection, covered by Annex B of IEC 60947-2:2009, or c) modular residual current devices (without integral current breaking device) covered by Annex M of IEC 60947-2:2009.
