Products covered: Kitchen equipment This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No. 477/2018 (3 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 5492 "Domestic and kitchen storage units and worktops. Safety requirements and test methods". It should be noted that Ministerial Decrees No. 134/2014 (2 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/57 dated 6 May 2014, and ministerial decree No. 241/2016 (4 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/57/Add.1 dated 12 August 2016, mandated among others the earlier versions of this Egyptian Standard. Worth mentioning is that the Egyptian standard is identical with EN 14749:2005. Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments in the Egyptian standards through the publication of administrative orders in the official gazette.
