This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No. 100/2019 (2 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the following Egyptian Standards:
ES 336-1 "Carbonated Beverages - part 1: General" (partial amendment in 1 page, in Arabic).
ES 416-1 “Biscuits and Methods of Analysis and Testing Part 1: Biscuits” (11 pages, in Arabic).
ES 1522 “Frozen meat” (11 pages, in Arabic).
It should be noted that Ministerial Decree No. 130/2005 (11 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/1 dated 14 December 2005 and the relevant Addenda mandated among others the earlier versions of these Egyptian Standards.
It is worth noting that:
The Egyptian Standard ES 336-1 has been formulated according to National Studies and its updates. It has been partially modified in the following items:
Delete the clause 3/4/3 Salmonella in 25 ml.
Item 5/2/1 add the name of the product is a carbonated drink according to item (2/1), and if fruit juice is added less than 10%, it may be added to the data (natural fruit juice is added), If fruit juice is added more than 10% the product is called carbonated drink - carbonated water (soda water) according to item (2/2).
The Egyptian Standard ES 416-1 is identical with GSO Standard No. 989/2016 for Biscuits.
The Egyptian Standard ES 1522 is technically identical with Council Regulation (EEC) No 2377/90.
Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments in the Egyptian standards through the publication of administrative orders in the official gazette.
Proposed date of adoption: 7 February 2019.
Proposed date of entry into force: 7 March 2019.
