Products covered: Footwear (ICS 61.060) This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No. 171/2020 (2 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 3572 for "Sports footwear and its Parts" (28 pages, in Arabic). It should be noted that the Ministerial Decrees No. 477/2018 (3 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/191 dated 4 September 2018 mandated among others the earlier version of this Standard, and its draft was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/191/Add.1 dated 17 October 2019. Worth mentioning is that this standard complies with: JIS S 5050: Leather shoes. United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) "Acceptable Quality Standards in the Leather and footwear industry" Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments in the Egyptian standard through the publication of administrative orders in the official gazette.
