This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No.608/2020 (2 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian standard ES 336-1 "Carbonated Beverages - part 1: General" (partial amendment in 1 page, in Arabic).

It should be noted that the Ministerial Decree No. 100/2019 (2 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/1/Add.7 dated 13 May 2019 mandated among others the earlier version of this Standard.

Worth mentioning is that ES 336-1 "Carbonated Beverages - part 1: General" (partial amendment in 1 page, in Arabic) is concerned with cancelling the item no. 5/2/3 "In case that permitted artificial sweeteners (sugar substitutes) are used, the approval of the competent authorities is required. The Registration number should be reflected on the label.”

Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments in the Egyptian Standard through the publication of administrative orders in the official gazette.

Proposed date of adoption: 4 December 2020.

Proposed date of entry into force: 15 January 2021.
