This addendum concerns the notification of Ministerial Decree No. 522/2021 (2 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 808 “packaged anchovies" (10 pages, in Arabic).

This standard specifies the essential requirements and descriptive criteria for Packaged Anchovies  prepared for human consumption and inspection and test methods.

This standard cancels and supersedes its last edition 2005

It should be noted that Ministerial Decree No. 93/2013 (4 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/34 dated 30 April 2013 mandated among others the earlier version of this Egyptian standard.

 

Worth mentioning is that this standard complies with:

-       PNS/BAFS 734:2015,Philippine national standard “Dried Anchovies” 2015.

-       Codex Standard No. 236-2003 “ standard for boiled dried salted anchovies”.

-       Codex Stan No. 94-1981 for "Canned sardines and sardine – type products" Adopted in 1981. Revised in 1995, 2007. Amended in 1979, 1989, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2018.

Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments in the Egyptian standards through the publication of administrative orders in the official gazette.

Proposed date of entry into force: 25 November 2021
